2010
December Christmas is fast approaching, and
although breeding season is winding down for some, there are still
quite a few foals yet to arrive. One of the december foals I got to
visit was the lovely bay and white filly at Surrey Springs. Born to
Pepsi and Castellan. If I don't get to update again before the new
year. Happy holidays to everyone, have a very Merry Christmas and
hope I get to meet more of you in the new year!
November -
Equitana Of course
the big event for November was Equitana. Held at the Melbourne
showgrounds, a number of breeders made the effort to showcase the
Gypsy Cobs and Drums in the breeders village. Gypsy Cobs Down Under
made their first public appearance with the Gypsy Cobs, and
especially wowed everyone with their stunning black mare, Queen.
Surrey Springs Bewitched, 3 week old filly foal from Geordie and
Nyssa, also stole the show. Not only loving the attention from the
crowds all day long, but causing a few tense moments and plenty of
laughs from the crowd when she went high tailing it around the arena
without her mother during the breed parade. After being convinced
that a Friesian Warmblood gelding really wasn't her mother, her and
Nyssa were reunited and all was good. For Glyndower Brea it was also
the first public appearance of their Gypsy Cob stallion
Castellan(imp). One of the tallest stallion available, and now at
public stud, he took the crowds in his stride and made quite a few
fans. Drum breeders Featherdale and Bethesda were also there.
Featherdale bringing their Drum filly, Kat's Legacy all the way from
NSW. A different representative for the Drums was showcased every
day, and they were more than willing to chat Gypsies and Drums to
all that visited. There is no doubt the Gypsies and Drums are much
better known now. Rather than the "What's that" comments, it was
more "Oh wow it's the Gypsies!!"
November Foaling continues, with the majority of Geordie's Victorian
foals arriving. Including two stunning purebred fillies from Surrey
Springs mares, and two partbred pony crosses for Pure Meadows Farm.
Watermark has also had their first foals from Double Tumble arrive
and they are beauties! Many more foals born all over Australia, some
of which can be seen in the Foals section here. Quite a
number of new Gypsy Cobs came into the country as well, with many
more on the way. There is no doubt numbers are growing fast!
October This
month was the arrival of Geordie's first purebred foal, out of my
very own Stormy! I couldn't be more pleased with this foal.
More black than white, very nicely put together and some size on her
too. She'll be a keeper for me this one!
September September was an exciting month for Glyndower
Brea Stud with the the birth of their stallion Castellan's first
foal, a very cute shetland cross. Plus the arrival of their
gorgeous new silver stallion, The Chocolatier!
August Well foaling season started with a bang! Only a
couple of days into August and Geordie has two foals born already!
Also some stunning arrivals at Watermark from the Fells and newly
imported Gypsy mares.
May New Foals! Imported mares foaling on UK time means
we get the treat of autumn/winter foals! We have Clononeen 007's
first foals arriving, and they are crackers!! Plus Ivy from Surrey
Springs decided she wanted to foal on UK time too, and had
a gorgeous filly. Tom's 5th purebred filly!
April WA Stud Show The first
time the APSB have classes for the Gypsy Cobs was at the WA annual
Stud Pony Show. WA breeders made a huge effort with most of the WA
cobs taking part. Rahni took the supreme champion
honours!!
March New Drum Stallion For Australia Stunning Black Silver
Drum Horse, Griffen, arrived from the US to Terrors Creek Stud
in QLD
January - Royal Melbourne
Show Whistleblower is Champion
Great turnout for
the RMS this year, not only did some exibitors travel from
interstate to attend, but we even had Gypsy fans and owners from all
over Australia!! Including the fun WA crowd!!! I had a fantastic
time meeting everyone!!!
